This is a demo of working loosely and quickly, a useful skill when painting on site, plein air, as the weather and light changes. I am working on Ampersand board, using turps + oil for dark colors and Oleogel for the white to maintain the separation between translucent shadows and opaque lights. Some palette knife work is useful for making the wavy water surface. Don’t overdo the palette knife though, variety is key to an interesting finished work.
